On January 23, 2020, we were gifted with our first 2 eggs from our girls. Although we haven’t had any since they are coming up on their 6 month birthday in just a few short days and we are hoping to celebrate with a few more.
We have 6 chickens and 5 different breeds here at the Froggy Urban Homestead. All of them are brown layers so it is hard to know who is responsible for gifting us with such beautiful eggs. From everything that I have read and researched, I was expecting the first few eggs to be smaller and softer. Because they were “normal” size and regular hardness it gives me confidence that they are getting the protein and nutrition they need, something I wasn’t too confident with as a first-time chick mama.
I plan on sharing individual personality profiles of the girls soon, so be sure to be on the lookout for that.
Have you raised chickens before? Have you given it any thought?
